GIS (Geographic Information Systems) provide powerful tools to think spatially and to approach problems from a geographic perspective. This approach can reveals patterns, illustrates problems, and shows connections that are not otherwise evident. GIS is used in business, earth and environmental sciences, agriculture, civil engineering, landscape architecture and many disciplines.
Kennedy Library's Data Services program provides suppoprt for students, staff and faculty to access GIS software, datasets, provides consultative services, and supports geospatial outreach & events.
The Kennedy Library Data Services unit is here to provide access and assistance with GIS tools and datasets. Information and training materials are available to support the use of GIS for mapping, analysis, visualization, and problem solving.
Designated GIS/CAD PCs in the Library are equiped with ESRI ArcGIS software. Cal Poly students, staff, and faculty have access the campus GIS file server to obtain datasets and can save their work in progress on the Library’s GIS file server.
