Is Wikipedia a good source of information?
The view of many educators might be summarized as follows: "Even though Wikipedia may have some value, particularly from the value of leading students to citable sources, it is not itself an appropriate source for citation," Don Wyatt, History Department Chair, Middlebury College, 2007.
Wikipedia can be a place to get background or ideas about a topic BUT it is not an appropriate source to cite. Information you find in Wikipedia should be verified and cited via scholarly articles, journal articles, books, newspapers, etc. [Important: Ask your professor about their policy regarding Wikipedia.]
